Nebraska artist Erostakles founded Quarteros Review in June of 2025.

During and after the COVID-19 pandemic, he had found a community of amazing gay and queer artists online, but he quickly realized there was a disconnect between these creatives and the art world of buyers and institutions.
He decided to draw on his journalism education and extensive experience in publication design to produce a physical magazine that champions gay art and artists from around the world, building bridges into the broader networks of the LGBTQ+ community and with art establishments.
While building the publication, the online world experienced increased censorship across platforms — even in countries and areas that traditionally held strong freedom of expression values.
Erostakles hopes Quarteros Review can play a role in this fight for creative freedom, as the physical publication of an artist's work is much harder to delete than the mass erasure social media platforms can enact with the push of a button.
